Boosting Efficiency of Road Vehicles

Arumugam Gunasegaran PhD MSc (BIS) MSc (EProd&Mgt) BSc (Hons) Mech Eng

Inventor Dr. A Gunasegaran was granted the UK Patent, GB 2480232, on 11th April 2012 in the fast-track green channel for his innovation, the XECON Optimiser.

XECON Optimiser is a practical, low-cost aftermarket solution for road vehicles to:

  • Reduce fuel costs by boosting urban fuel economy.
  • Mitigate global warming and climate change concerns by reducing carbon dioxide emissions.
  • Reduce toxic tailpipe emissions.

XECON Optimiser

Urban fuel economy of fossil fuel powered road vehicles is about 30% less than extra urban fuel economy due to urban traffic congestion and poor air quality.

XECON Optimiser energises urban air quality to boost urban fuel economy.

By preprocessing engine blow-by gases, XECON Optimiser improves engine efficiency by reducing detonation (gas/petrol engine) and pre-ignition (gas/petrol & diesel engines) of current high compression internal compression engines.

XECON Optimiser has been real world tested over 10 years in about 15,000 road vehicles of various makes, models, age and fuelled by petrol, diesel, liquid petroleum gas and compressed natural gas in 12 countries: UK; Germany; Poland; Netherlands; India; China; Malaysia; Singapore; New Zealand; Australia; Jamaica and Papua New Guinea to test its suitability in different weather, terrains, road conditions as well as different fossil fuel types and grades.

and installation of this UK patented aftermarket device.

Verification of toxic exhaust emissions reduction

Exhaust emissions analysis were conducted on 3 different petrol vehicles, without and with XECON Optimiser installed using the same test equipment and tester on the same day/week to provide evidence of instant reduction of toxic exhaust emissions with XECON Optimiser:

  • 2014 Petrol Vauxhall Zafira                – 1.8cc 3-year-old 7-seater car

Verification of diesel smoke count reduction
Source: In-service MOT Exhaust Emissions Analysis – Diesel Car

Smoke count analysis were conducted on 2 different diesel vehicles, without and with XECON Optimiser installed using the same test equipment and tester on the same day/week to provide evidence of instant reduction in smoke count with XECON Optimiser.

Only smoke count is measured for diesel vehicles in the UK.

  • 2012 Diesel Citroen Picasso
  • 2007 Diesel Vauxhall Astra van
  • 10-year-old diesel car
  • 9-year-old, UK 2nd best-selling diesel van

Note:   Low accuracy of MOT garage test equipment does not distinguish smoke count between without and with XECON Optimiser is a relatively new diesel vehicles. With XECON, there is less engine noise, more power and lower engine temperature due to reduced pre-ignitions in diesel engines.
Improved diesel economy in controlled conditions was not measured.

    Smoke Count<= 1.501.310.1985%

Note:   For older diesel vehicles, MOT garage test equipment proves that XECON Optimiser can reduce smoke count by 85%. With XECON, there is less engine noise, more power and lower engine temperature due to reduced pre-ignitions in diesel engines.
Improved diesel economy in controlled conditions was not measured.

XECON Optimiser is the only retrofit device available for boosting urban fuel economy and reducing toxic tailpipe exhaust emissions of fossil fuel powered road vehicles.
